DESIGN RATIONALE

One of the original English Garden Cities, Letchworth is growing beyond its intended limits, and is looking for ways in which to do this sustainably, that is, without losing those characteristics that define it. The competition asked for housing solutions that would respect the design intentions of the original Arts and Craft houses, while addressing the potential sprawl that further houses-and-gardens could cause.

This entry solves the problem with an environmentally-designed housing that provides outdoor spaces for all units, but not necessarily at ground level.
