OVERVIEW
This competition entry covers three areas:
- Self-build, self-procured dwellings
- High performance prefabricated components for low carbon residential buildings
- Parametric design
Trend projections in the UK show an increase in self-build houses. The building industry has the potential to produce a high variety of customised components to generate a variety of building types and finishes.
The project investigates how parametric design can enable users to generate low carbon buildings with a prefabricated kit of parts and a set of rules for putting them together that maintains structural and environmental standards while at the same time giving the users a high degree of flexibility.
