Swen Geiss

Swen Geiss is one half of the architectural partnership team 51.5° architects with offices in London and Wuppertal. They combine architectural, landscape and urban design projects with research and teaching. Geiss's research interests focus on sustainable building technologies and the retrofitting/reprogramming of post-war highrises. He worked on a contentious 1960's highrise with R/E/D in Sao Paulo, reconfiguring the building to reduce its environmental impact, increase indoor comfort, and meet contemporary needs. Formerly a member of the MA Sustainability + Design, University of East London, he now teaches design at the Alanus University for Arts and Social Sciences, Alfter/Bonn.
