Lex Walsall Competition

PROJECT
The developers, Urban Splash, and the city of Walsall held an ideas competition in May 2008 for a hectare site bounded by two canals and near the New Art Gallery. R_E_D submitted an entry called 'Urban Condenser', which packed programme into one building in response to the area's social needs, and into a second to complement the visual arts in the New Art Gallery with performance spaces, cinemas etc. In between was an orchard/wildlife habitat with two playgrounds.
